In 2012 NESCent (The National Evolutionary Synthesis Center) hosted the first meeting focused on molecular ecology of the Indo-Pacific. This meeting included 35 participants, inspired a number of papers and collaborations, and laid the groundwork for the development of the NSF Research Coordination Network grant funded in 2015.
